Four Montgomery county banks have subscribed for and received 160000 worth of treasury certificates to be taken up by Liberty Loan bonds. They ask customers to buy bonds to support the government, President Roosevelt, and allied efforts, hoping every homejo citizen will own a Liberty Loan bond.
Next Friday evening the Presbyterian church hosts dignitaries from major denominational agencies. Speakers include Rev Dr Patterson of the Home Mission Board, Rev Harvey Murdock from a Kentucky school, F J Check state missions superintendent, and Rev Dr Aquila Webb of Warren Memorial Louisville. The 7 30 pm service has no offering or subscriptions. Public invited.
Senate adopts an amendment by Senator Nelson empowering the President to prohibit futures speculation that unfairly drives up wheat and other cereals prices. If ignored the President could close an exchange during the war. New beans peas cucumbers and potatoes advertised at Vanarsdell's.

Isaac Rogers Jr. joined the First Kentucky Regiment on Saturday and will travel to Louisville tomorrow. Benton-Kinsolving, ex-resident here, serves as a captain in the same regiment. Rogers previously worked for R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and is viewed by friends as having outstanding prospects.
Word reached locals that John Neal died Saturday at his McIntosh Florida home. He formerly lived here and is remembered by many in the community.
Joe T. Wilson and W. T. Adams announce the opening of a sanitary meat market and grocery in the Cockrell building on South Maysville street. Cleveland Pergram was acquitted of murder after three trials in this county. The case originated in Bath county where Pergram was charged with killing Harris. He remains jailed awaiting parole board action in Frankfort, as he was on parole at the time of the Harris killing.

The ceremony took place at Christ Church Cathedral with Dean Robert K. Massie officiating. Miss Lucile Marie Campbell of Lexington is the bride. Frederick L. A. Eichelberger of Corpopolis, Pennsylvania, is the groom. After September 15 they will reside in Corpopolis. The bride’s family and connections are noted in Mt. Sterling and Montgomery county.
First Sergeant Frank B. Auliffe and Private Clarend Watkins of the First Kentucky Infantry visit the city to recruit men for Company H. Captain H. H. B. Kinsolving, formerly of the city, heads the unit and organizers seek as many Mount Sterling and Montgomery County men as possible.
