About 70 cattle on market with generally fair quality and brisk trade. Prices ranged with top purchases near $903.20 for a yoke of oxen and 600 lb yearlings around 10 cents per pound. Horses and mules sold actively with army horses fetching $110 to $140 and mule prices rising to $550 for mares.

The Commonwealth of Kentucky vs Porter Eubank ended with a jury verdict of ten years for the murder of Henry M. Ringo after hours of deliberation. The case drew a large crowd. Eubank, a former deputy U S marshal, faced a strong defense team while Ringo, a Presbyterian deacon and city clerk, was widely known.

The O. B. Clark farm on the Winchester Pike three miles from the city was offered at public auction at the Court House door. Bids reached $200 per acre, but Clark refused to sell at that figure. The land is well improved and in a fine neighborhood, with a large crowd present.

Mrs. Ann Eliza Ratliff died at her Sharpsburg home Sunday night after years of poor health. Age about 72, she was a Baptist with many friends. Survived by three sons Omar and Will Ratliff of Sharpsburg and Alice Ratliff of this city, two sisters Elizabeth Burbridge and Lou Ratliff, plus many relatives. Police capture suspect in Morehead housebreaking case
Chief Tipton detained a man who gave the name Grant Weaver and is sought for a Morehead housebreaking and possibly the Lexington killing of Mrs Smith near Union Station last spring. Lexington police will send an officer to identify him in Morehead. The High School Girls' Club to stage an entertainment on Thursday February 28 to raise funds for wartime work.
