Mrs Elizabeth Stephens died at her Locust street home Monday morning December 28 1914 after months of tuberculosis aged 74. Funeral held at her residence at 2 pm conducted by Rev Clyde Darsie, burial in Machpelah cemetery family vault. She came to the city thirty three years ago and ran a boarding house on Locust street since then.

Young Man Frozen on Christmas Night Found Near Summers Store
John Helwig aged 23 was found Saturday morning near Summers store in the county badly frozen. He was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital at Lexington in serious condition with both feet and one hand expected to be lost. He had spent the day in Mt. Sterling and started walking home after working on a railroad in Ohio.
