Mrs J R Marston of Blanchard dies at her Blanchard home Tuesday evening at seven o clock. She was longtime Times correspondent from Blanchard and wife of Rev J R Marston. Funeral services and burial will be held in Blanchard Friday afternoon at two o'clock.
Lansing September 5. Nearly 1500 Michigan corporate charters were voided by order of Mrs. Alice B Alexander head of the corporation division at the secretary of state’s office. The firms failed to pay franchise fees for at least two years and the franchises are to be voided under a mandate of the last legislature.
Enrollment data from Mt Pleasant public schools shows a net rise of 50 students from last year, with total 926 students across grade schools and high school. Kinney leads gains with 230 students, Fancher adds 15, Central up 8, while the high school declines to 370 on the first day but is expected to rise.
Michigan State Board of Equalization raises Isabella County valuation to 28 million, an increase of 7.16 million from the county supervisors' 20.84 million figure. Other counties shown include Midland 19.5 million, Clare 6.8 million, Mecosta 13.23 million, and Gratiot 48.58 million after board adjustments.
Rain across Lake Michigan ended forest fires in northern Michigan after a four day blaze. In the Traverse City district the fires in Grad Traverse Leelanau Benzie Wexford and Manistee counties were stopped. Officials said the Hartwick Pines area remains at risk though the virgin pines survived.
