Local students enter state meet in typing shorthand contest
Margaret Hawkins Ruth Jones and Miss Ruby Petty Mt Pleasant high school will enter the state typing and shorthand contest at Western State Teachers College Kalamazoo on Saturday. Competitors will race to represent Michigan in the Silver Anniversary International Typing contest in Richmond Virginia September 26. Contestants type from unseen copy for fifteen minutes and scores are based on gross strokes with ten points deducted per error.

Fire Destroys Farm Residence at Leaton Estate
A noon fire on the William West estate near Leaton virtually destroyed the farm residence occupied by Herbert Yuncker.
