In Southampton May 2, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ford sailed for home on the liner Majestic after a quiet European visit. They used the name Mr. and Mrs. Jack Robinson on the passenger list, boarded secretly, and had a brief detour when lost in a forest required a 40 mile drive to Beaulieu Abbey nearby.
Queen Mary Purnell and a faction of the House of David religious colony in Lansing Michigan will contest the state’s receivership move. W J Barnard, former colony lawyer, leads the challenge as the case heads toward a monthly supreme court hearing after Judge Feed ordered a receiver and distribution rules for departing members.
Charges of mal administration and immorality were filed with the Methodist Episcopal conference general secretary against Bishop Francis J. McConnell of the Pittsburgh area. Mal administration relates to two cases from last year. immorality centers on an alleged endorsement of evolution and a pamphlet published in January 1927. The immorality charge is described as violations of church documents and dogmas rather than moral turpitude.

The United Press reports Charles A Lindbergh weighing a northern Atlantic route for a future Europe flight to study scientific aspects. Lindbergh favors only flights that advance aviation science and may be joined by Major Lanphies and Capt. Land as plans are refined with Labrador Greenland and Teeland data. A formal Ford offices announcement in Detroit is expected after route details are settled.
Voters in St Louis Michigan approved a $15 000 water bonds plan in a special election Tuesday by 207 to 69. The measure finances additional water wells for the community. The result was reported from St Louis on May 2.
Michigan state police begin reclassifying all criminal records using European methods. The project aims to note details of crimes and known offenders to narrow suspect fields for future investigations. Lieutenant Hugo Ericson leads the effort to reclassify about 500000 records nationwide.

A new phase includes band competitions between junior high groups from several larger cities. In New Haven a large number of prominent D A R members were expelled over a blacklist dispute. The event drew attention from Yale affiliates and local officials as factions argued about membership and loyalty.
In Muskegon Michigan the twelfth producing well in the Muskegon field erupted as a gusher flowing about 350 barrels of oil daily. A separate well in the same field increased output after a nitroglycerin explosion. Both wells were drilled by the Muskegon company. Gas production is estimated at a substantial daily volume.
The 55th annual National Conference on Social Work opens in Memphis with 3,500 delegates from 30 states and foreign countries. Sessions run May 2 to May 11 on diverse welfare topics led by Sherman Kingsley and Howard Knight, with 12 divisions and leaders from major cities.
