Chicago March 29 The steam propelled car Locomotor is under test on the Indiana division of the Illinois Central system. The 73 foot long vehicle weighs 75 tons and carries 63 passengers with space for baggage and engine room. One operator runs the engine using steam generated from distillate fuel. It has reached speeds of 60 miles per hour on level track and can haul a trailer.
A line of 80 freight cars carrying sapling fruit trees from Stark Bros. Nurseries arrived in Louisiana Missouri in one day, marking the largest shipment in the region's fruit tree industry.
