Rum Rummer Shot as Craft Is Captured by Coast Guardsmen
Cleveland March 7 One man seriously wounded and another arrested when coast guardsmen overhauled a rum running tug loaded with 1 000 cases of Canadian whiskey after firing on it with rifles and a one pounder. The tug was overtaken halfway between Lorain and Cleveland by a cutter commanded by Captain J T Hagelove. The wounded man Tred Hentrie of Detroit was taken to St Joseph s hospital Lorain in critical condition with two bullets in his back. Joe Hanna was jailed in Lorain City. The ram boat refused to stop after two shots were fired across its bow and he ordered his men to use rifles.
