A small group in Isabella County formed a temporary organization at the courthouse to support Arthur Vandenberg for the Republican Senate nomination. Floyd Mitchell was named chairman Virgil McClintic secretary and Frank H Dodds treasurer. Hast Lansing March 6 The silver cup for high winter egg production in the International Egg Laying Contest at Michigan State College goes to W. C. Eckard Paw Paw whose pen of White Leghorns produced 840 eggs from November 1 to March 1. A second pen owned by W. A. Downs Washingon finished second, 4.6 points behind. The contest uses a joint system weighing eggs and quantity, with under 24 ounce eggs counting less toward the total.

Egg Size Standards In Breeding Count Entered
In November and December breeders selected stock for breeding pens based on ability to produce standard sized eggs. The standard for pullets in the count was 20 ounces to the dozen. After two months production birds are expected to lay full sized eggs and the 24 ounce standard is initiated.
Oil Leases Pour In For Recording At County Office
Business is strong at the Isabella County Register of Deeds as 69 oil leases were filed yesterday. Pure Oil owns 38 leases purchased from R. and Hill, covering 4086 acres across six townships including Coldwater, Gilmore, Sherman, Nottawa, Broomfield and Deerfield. Other leases came from various parties, with some newcomers to Isabella County after the oil strike.

City Council considers pavement and curb petitions
A petition to improve Fancher avenue from Pighard street to High street along with curb and gutter requests on Washington streets was presented at the regular council meeting. The majority of property owners supported the Fancher project, enabling continued summer paving funding. Plans call for an 80 foot wide pavement on Fancher with seven inch concrete slab and 85 feet driving space between curbs. The city also ordered a new mixer to replace the troublesome one.
