Washington June 30. Distribution by Michigan utility interests of propaganda pamphlets in schools and free subscriptions to a public ownership attack magazine were disclosed at the FTC power inquiry. Arthur Stace testified he placed 10 000 copies of two pamphlets in schools and that school libraries received utility literature. Payments to Professor William J Gallagher totaled 57 40 for speeches before state granges. Stace also paid 10 a month to Lee Chilson who supplied reports on state utility companies.

A Detroit navy recruiting bulletin says the beam system of radio telegraphy will be tested for long distance shore-to-shore messages. First use will be from Navy stations to San Francisco and Balboa Canal Zone. The beam promises lower operating costs with operators at radio central achieving 75 words a minute. Marconi cites 200 words per minute. The Annapolis station’s six towers cost about $1,000,000, while a single beam requires roughly $2,000.

In New York on June 80 Calvin ST Goddard sought an injunction to halt the proposed 250 million merger of Dodge Brothers and Chrysler Motors.
