More than 600 delegates and prohibition supporters gathered at Houston s First Baptist Church to oppose Governor Smith s presidential bid. Speakers including former Colorado Governor William Sweet and Senator Harris of Georgia warned against nominating a candidate linked to liquor interests, while Mrs Nicholson claimed 20000 women would bolt if Smith is chosen.

A mile wide tornado roared along the Wichita clay county line causing one death and multiple injuries. Damage is estimated at $500,000 as houses barns and a school were destroyed and communications lines damaged. The storm left farms damaged and residents missing or seriously hurt.
