George Williams, 29, fatally shot Catherine Williams, 25, in a tunnel near the Stone residence in Grand Rapids. He surrendered to police within hours and pled guilty, receiving a life sentence at Jackson. Jealousy and an unregistered revolver were cited by Judge Verdier.

Rum Runner Battles Coast Guard Near Olcott
A rum runner fired on Coast Guard patrol boat No. 211 fifteen miles east of Olcott New York on Lake Ontario and escaped into Canadian waters after a exchange of about 400 shots. The steel armored chaser with eight crew members was reported to be capable of thirty miles per hour and endured six bullets.
