Washington July 9 A Treasury statement by Assistant Secretary Lowman shows June 1929 liquor exports from Canada to the United States via Windsor to Detroit fell sharply from 470 033 gallons in June 1928 to 112 878 gallons in June 1929. The Windsor port area, part of the Detroit sector, reflects broader Canada bound trade reductions amid tighter border controls.
Attorneys for Stanley J. Sanford filed a supreme court appeal from his arson conviction. They allege jury coercion by Judge Hal Cutler, denial of a new trial, and jurisdiction issues related to an outside judge. San Francisco July 9. Federal officials say customs officers seized opium and contraband worth over $1,000,000 from the trunks of Mrs Ying Kaio wife of the Chinese vice consul, following her Orient visit. The seizure also included silk and fine laces.
Washington reports a new one to twenty dollar currency issue debuting tomorrow replacing the old notes after more than six decades in use. The notes are one third lighter saving paper and ink and will be distributed through the 12 federal reserve banks with limited initial availability to commercial banks. The treasury plans gradual rollout as old notes are retired, starting with non national bank notes in all denominations from one to twenty dollars.
Berlin reports reveal a wide conspiracy to overthrow Romania's government and install Crown Prince Carol. Over 200 arrests, high officials implicated, and interior ministry admits an attempted plot as authorities acted to forestall a coup just before it would begin.

In Paris at the Seine Assizes Louis Duc a market employee and his companions were in a cafe when Branfard offered to hypnotize Duc. The attempt failed angling Duc into rage he rushed home seized a revolver returned to the cafe and fired. Victims were sent to hospital and Duc received a two year suspended sentence while Duc himself went free.
Hearings Thursday hear testimony from auto industry leaders on the 25 percent tariff. The industry showed little interest until committee members asked presidents of major companies to appear and testify.
Midland banker Stewart B. Gordon and his son Rollin C. Gordon pleaded guilty to issuing false reports but denied intent to defraud. Bail set at 10 000 each, totals 56 000 for the father and 42 000 for the son. sentencing deferred to Sept 9 for investigation.
The Pathfinder pilots Roger Q. Williams and Lewis A. Yancey left Old Orchard Beach at 7 48 a m on a 1400 mile flight to Rome. With no radio gear aboard and heavy fog forecast, no sighting by other vessels had occurred after more than 15 hours aloft. The craft carries 440 gallons of fuel and enough supplies for 45 hours in the air.
The British submarine H-47 sank after a collision with I-12 about 22 miles off Pembroke Wales. Authorities fear more than 20 sailors are dead with two rescued, as salvage plans move ahead and relatives await official word.
The funeral for A. H. Rowlader will be held at his home 612 South College Avenue on Thursday afternoon at 2 30. He died Monday at Dearborn and his body was brought to his daughter's home Mrs Al Carroll Monday night.

Virgil McClintic E Harris and Hannah Vowles were reelected to the local school board at an annual meeting in the high school auditorium. McClintic will serve a one year term while Harris and Vowles will serve three years. The board adopted a five thousand dollar annual sinking fund for the future Fancher school and set the educational budget at 17 1 085 for Mt Pleasant. They authorized locating a proper site for the Fancher school and will report at the 1930 annual meeting.

Activities include executive committee meetings, sightseeing, forums, and talks by leaders such as H Augustine Smith J W McCrossen John Singleton Harold R Husted Carl Knopf and Harold Stissen among others with closing day programs planned Sunday July 14.
