Ruthven Air Crash Kills Two Fliers in Ruthven Iowa
Ernest Southworth an 18 year old junior glider champion and Kenneth Wilson 24 of Sioux City were killed when Wilsons new airplane clipped a telephone wire during landing near Ruthven Iowa. Pilot and co pilot avert disaster in mid air collision
In Keene New Hampshire two planes collided in mid air near Pierce Air sport. Leslie Downes of Renssellaer Indiana saved five passengers and the other pilot from death or injury by skilled flying. Downes was in a two seat plane with two passengers while Kenneth Ringrose piloted the other craft with three passengers. Both planes made safe landings after the collision with a wheel loss on Downes plane.

University of Chicago Press bound the so called World's first Doctor’s Book written 4700 years ago on the Nile by Imhotep, physician to the pharaohs. Dr James Henry Breasted translated it revealing 58 examinations with 42 recommended treatments. The papyrus, bought in 1862, cost over $300,000 including translation and study.

The Goodyear Zeppelin from Akron Ohio is deemed winner of the 1980 National Balloon race. Brush Fires Threaten Midland Oil Fields

Funeral Services Held for Mrs George West
The funeral of Mrs. George West was held this forenoon at Sacred Heart church with a large assembly of relatives and friends. Rev. John A Mulvey celebrated the mass, assisted by Rev. William McCann of Alma and Rev. D O Leary. Fr O Leary delivered the sermon. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery. Mrs West died Saturday morning at the family home after a long illness.
