Newport Rhode Island July 3 two naval officers died when a seaplane performing loops plummeted 1000 feet into the harbor. Oil Tank Cars Being Filled From Pipeline in Mt Pleasant
Seventeen oil tank cars with about 10 000 gallons each lie on the Pere Marquette siding at Mt Pleasant being rapidly filled from the Pure Oil well east of town. Oil is pumped through a two inch pipeline at 23 barrels per hour with a stated maximum of 40. At 35 barrels per hour the storage tanks holding about 6000 barrels would take over a week to empty, pumping several hours daily. The oil is reported to be sold to Imperial Refining Company.
