Pine seed stock surges in Michigan forests
Lansing January 28 Wisconsin reports show the Michigan department of conservation forest division harvested over forty tons of Norway pine cones and twelve tons of white pine cones in 1927. Seed yield about sixteen hundred pounds could sell for $25,600, but will be sown in Higgins Lake nursery to yield about 35,000,000 Norway and 3,500,000 white pine seedlings, enough to meet several years of planting. Michigan planted seven and a half million pine trees on 7400 acres in 1927, with similar totals in 1926, and plans to plant 10 to 12 thousand more acres of pine in 1928.

Poultry Judge James Tucker Dies in Detroit Hospital
James A. Tucker a 60 year old renowned poultry judge died at Henry Ford hospital Detroit after months of illness. A 1920 Michigan State College medal called him the best poultry judge in the United States. He judged at the Michigan State Fair 20 years and at the Toronto and Denver expos 17 years. Born in Concord Michigan, he will be buried there Tuesday.
