John W. Hance Dies in Oregon at Age Eighty
John W. Hance, longtime Isabella County native and former county clerk, died January 8 in Portland Oregon at eighty years. A Ohio-born Quaker, he moved to Mt Pleasant in 1875 and served as county clerk and register of deeds 1876 to 1878 and to the state senate in 1882. He later moved to Oregon after serving as postmaster under Roosevelt and after World War I. Mrs. Hance survives him.
