Detroit June 24 State and county fairs in Michigan are growing more profitable and popular. Gov Fred W Green told delegates at the Michigan Association of Fairs banquet that the 1929 state fair cleared 55000 and county fairs also turned a profit for the first time. He praised the association and pledged continued cooperation as 1930 exhibit plans were outlined. Gate and grandstand receipts at the 1929 fair totaled 180241.94. Middaugh escaped Lansing jail after arrest Tuesday night. The others named are Herschal Miner 21 Raymond Manahan 17 Jack Collins 19 and Thad Isham 23 all from Owosso. Collins and Isham were implicated in robberies. Miner and Manahan admitted being with Middaugh when Nelson and Corporal Maddock tried to stop them. Middaugh allegedly fired two pistols at the officers.
