Hillman Bank Robber Captured After 16 Day Search
State police and sheriff’s deputies captured Thomas Hunt of Wyandotte four miles south of Hillman in a swamp while pursuing two armed bandits who robbed the Montmorency County Savings Bank at Hillman and took about $15,000 in cash and bonds. Hunt confessed to his role in the crime and kidnapping the cashier. his companion remains at large. Hunt said the pair planned to hide in the swamp and live off nearby farms until the manhunt ended.

Lake Oil Tanker Shipment Delayed From Bay City
The first transport of Mt. Pleasant crude oil by pipeline and lake tanker was delayed. Puré Oil officials announced the Bay City dock operations have been ready for days, but the inaugural shipment to Canada by lake boat will not occur until Saturday or early next week.
