Four aboard the flight boat left Cleveland at five p m Wednesday with three rescued: Gus Caldwell C A Lupold and Mrs Robert Little. The coast guard and steamers joined the hunt as officials said Casper misjudged water landing in fog four miles west of Pirele.

Action in the case of J G Philpott a Michigan securities broker was postponed by the state securities commission until a full report of his acts is submitted. He is accused of disposing of worthless Russian bonds to Michigan investors at a loss and a special investigator was sent to Port Huron to examine records and determine the extent of his activities. The commission seeks to revoke his brokerage license and has ordered him to show cause why this should not be done.
Kas Pratt Aug 14 U P recounts Canetti losing shirt and underwear when a sprocket wheel snagged in his trouser lters. The injury required 100 stitches to repair skin across the torso and upper body.
Michigan Governor Fred W. Green told Ionia Free Fair patrons he did not choose to announce his plans for the 1930 gubernatorial race. The address was delivered before local and state attendees seeking insight on the political future.
Governor Fred W. Green will attend the Isabella County Fair set for August 20 to 24. Also attending will be Webster H. Pearce and local officials. The fair promises top exhibits, a large racing program with about 50 fast horses, a bustling Midway, and family ticket savings.

He asserted no financial difficulties, noted a year end balance of 32 million dollars across 71 funds, and said sinking fund obligations were paid though the general fund was over extended by 1.36 million dollars due to budget cuts.
Aug 14 Detroit dispatch reports a rapid dash system used by rum runners along the waterfront. A customs border patrol boat refueled briefly allowing two fleets of rum boats to pass, loading 40 cases of liquor in under three minutes. Two of five crewmen reportedly carried revolvers as the group fled into the city. Walter S. Petty said picket ships were ordered to stay at stations and fuel boats would supply them.
