The Pure Oil Pipe Line Company reports completion of a 40 mile 6 inch line from the Mt Pleasant field to Bay City docks. It now carries about 9000 barrels daily with four 65000 barrel storage tanks in service and four more due soon. First tanker shipment Aug 14 to Sarnia Canada and Imperial Refining.

Inmate Jail Break Foiled at Jackson Prison
Three long term inmates Fred Elliott Donald Arnolds and Charles W Taylor were recaptured after a six hour manhunt inside Jackson State Prison. Charlevoix Michigan search for three men missing since an explosion wrecked their 85 foot motor boat about five miles from shore in Lake Michigan on Wednesday night resumed on the shore today.
