Cheboygan county road commission purchases a snow remover that scoops snow with a large shovel and blows it up to five hundred feet from the road. The machine is the invention of Lem Chappel, a local resident.
Three men who admitted taking overcoats from two churches in Ann Arbor faced transfer to state penal institutions. Ray Martin of Kingston Ontario and Clarence Hopgood of Detroit received one to four years at Ionia reformatory. About 2 45 pm a fierce blaze wiped out the old Walkington barn on North Franklin street near Battle's garage. A Hart Bus lines bus and possibly others were destroyed, oil in the building hampered firefighting. The fire drew a large crowd as firefighters fought back, with the northeast corner of the Motor Sales attic damaged and no insurance reported. Full details promised tomorrow.
Howell Michigan April 1 Emil Miller a 57 year old Hamburg farmer left a suicide note in his mailbox then went inside and killed himself. The mail carrier found the body. The note said I am tired of life Good bye to all Miller's divorced wife and five children live in Detroit
Oklahoma City reports two oil wells on the Mary Sudik field spewing gas and oil as winds drive slicks across a 100000 acre area. Workmen battled to cap the fires while officials evacuated families and barred spectators from the district.
United Press reports two Lansing police figures Eastman and Knapp were exonerated in a two one man juries investigation led by Circuit Judge Leland W. Carr. The panel found Harry Stainos guilty of bribery. Eastman and Knapp had sparked the arrest and conviction of Mrs. Etta Mae Miller in a liquor case. Meanwhile Herbert Penn a 22 year old UM student left for Jonia reformatory to serve one to five years for stealing from a fraternity house.
