Mount Dora High School participated in a War Bond drive at a Friday assembly. Principal D D Rose reported sales of Third War Loan Bonds totaling $2300 at the event and more than $4000 in bonds purchased by students, with jeep ride tickets exceeding 150.

New A Gasoline Ration Books To Be Issued Next Week

New A gasoline ration books will be issued at the room next to the Chamber of Commerce on Monday and Tuesday October 4 and 5 from 9:00 to 4:30. Applicants must bring their current A books, car owner name and address, 1943 car registration, and tire inspection record. The new books become valid on a date to be announced, likely November 22, and are for passenger cars with A stickers only. Do not confuse with War Ration Book IV to be issued late October.

The Mount Dora drive reports $7,400 in Bonds and Stamps purchased by students and teachers with total efforts reaching $25,000. A War Bond Cavalcade toured town with Army displays and an audience heard speeches urging support for the Third War Loan as planes, cranes, and weapons trailers toured the route.
