Death of Earl Gilbert noted for charity and park donation
Earl Gilbert, once lively, became quiet in later years and helped East Town blacks gain property through tax deeds. An avid traveler and Florida shells collector, he donated five acres to Mount Dora for a public park now Gilbert Park. Surviving relatives include sister Mrs. Vrooman and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Friday at Rehbaum Parlor with burial in Forest Cemetery.
