IceHouse Director Bill Dunnagan Leaves After Board Vote
At a special IceHouse Theatre meeting on Sunday, Sept 17, director Bill Dunnagan and the IceHouse Board of Governors parted ways after Dunnagan asked the board to reconsider his 1967 68 winter season appointment. The board decided to reassign direction for the coming season while Dunnagan noted a satisfactory two year association and the group’s important role in community culture. Dr. Robert H. Montgomery of Mount Dora has been re elected to active membership in the American Academy of General Practice. Re election shows he completed 150 hours of accredited post graduate medical study in the last three years. The Academy, founded 1947 and based in Kansas City, advocates continuing education for family physicians.

Mount Dora Golden Hurricanes debut 21-0 over St Cloud
Mount Dora High School’s Golden Hurricanes opened the 1967-68 football season with a 21-0 win over the St Cloud Bulldogs. Melvin Durias ran for 127 yards and 1 TD helped the team build a 7-0 halftime lead, with Charles Clement adding a 61 yard TD run. The Hurricanes face Tavares next Thursday in Tavares for their second conference game.
