Wise Boat Works in Lake Dora builds pleasure boats under H J Wise. Florid orange Canneries, Inc. runs a large grapefruit and orange juice canning plant.

Town Council Adopts 1931 32 Budget and financing plan

Council approves the 1931 32 budget and bond financing plan. It allocates funds to Water Donnelly Park Fire Street Paving Street Publicity Park Welfare and General funds with total appropriations around 45 000 and a 12 mill tax on assessed value 3 749 781.00. The prior meeting also approved the budget with similar allocations and notes continued coverage on Page 2.

Constitution Week Joint Meeting in Mount Dora

The Mount Dora Kiwanis Club and Mount Dora American Legion Post will host a Constitution Week event at the Community Building Social Rooms on Thursday September 17 at 7 00 pm. Tickets cost fifty cents and proceeds support local clubs with a program featuring addresses by Alfred Rehbaum and Judge J C B Koonce, songs and recitations.

Epworth League Wins Attendance Pennant At Eau Gallie

At the district Epworth League meeting in Eau Gallie 23 representatives from the local league attended. They won the attendance pennant for the third time and will have the Mount Dora name sewed onto it, retaining it until another league wins it by the largest attendance three times in a row. A new sub district was formed to cover Eau Gallie and DeLand areas due to distance.
