Mount Dora High frolics cap Homecoming 1971 with parade
Homecoming week peaks with a snake dance and bonfire tonight and a Friday parade and football game. The snake dance forms at the First National Bank lot at 6 30 p m and proceeds to the high school campus escorted by police. Bonfire starts about 7 15 p m followed by the Hurricane Howl at 8. Friday features a pep rally at 1 30 in the gym, parade at 2 moving along Fifth Ave Donnelly St Ninth Ave Highland, and a 8 o clock kickoff with coach Gene Bebber’s Golden Hurricanes hosting South Sumter. Roseborough pupils leave at 1 45 to view the parade. halftime band show precedes the queen crowning for 1971.

Halloween Parade Set At Mount Dora Oct 30
The Mount Dora Parent-Teacher Organization hosts the Halloween parade next weekend with judging in two groups pre-school to kindergarten and grades 1-12. Riders lead the 3 p.m. march on Saturday October 30, with vehicle decoration trophies for first to third place and a carnival to follow. Children sell 10 cent chances for a drawing on the 30th with three trips to Walt Disney World or cash prizes, plus prizes for top ticket sellers in each grade.

Governor Askew to visit Leesburg for coffee talk
