Platts Race Status Victory in Florida Court Action
A Circuit Judge ruled the claim that Allen and Laura Platt’s children are Negroes to attend a white school is to be stricken. Depositions showed the Platts have long been considered white, with evidence from birth certificates and local school records, while the defense failed to connect the Platts to any nonwhite lineage. The ruling clears the way for the Platts to enroll their children in the Mount Dora Christian Home and Bible School, with the defense planning an appeal.
