Dickinson Signals Candidacy for Florida Governor

Fred O. Bud Dickinson told Lake County Democrats at Fralick’s Restaurant that he plans to announce his gubernatorial bid after January 1. New Lien Law to Be Discussed in Mount Dora

Linton Waterhouse, a promoter of Florida's new lien law, visits Mount Dora on Oct. 24 for a public forum in the Community Building auditorium at 8 p.m. The Lake County Building Materials Suppliers Association sponsors the event open to all. Waterhouse will explain the new requirements for home builders contractors and suppliers and a Q A session will follow. Copies of the law and literature will be available.

Handshake Reunites Mount Dora Man With Childhood Friend

A Mount Dora police Lt. James C. Orr reconnected with Louis Brandt of Miami after 33 years. They grew up in Walhalla South Carolina and played varsity football together. Shopping Center Lake Gets Fish

The Golden Triangle Shopping Center parking lot lake will be restocked with bass and bluegill after a safety fence is installed and rough fish removed this week. The state Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission will stock and maintain the lake and the area will open to regular sport fishing once restocking is complete. A fishing contest for youngsters is planned for fall.

The Mount Dora Jaycees run their annual Halloween candy sale offering bags of 107 pieces for 1. Proceeds support Jaycee youth activities. One Killed One Injured In Auto Accident Friday

Uyless Watson of Eustis in fair condition after a one car crash near Sorrento. Hayford Hutcheson of Zellwood died. Watson suffered multiple injuries. The 1953 convertible slammed into a tree after speeding and leaving the road. Hutcheson was pronounced dead at hospital. Funeral plans set for Hutcheson in Soperton Georgia.

Rehbaum Elected President Of Mount Dora Merchants Division

Alfred Rehbaum Jr was chosen as president of the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce Merchants Division at a Tuesday meeting. He succeeds Paul Bronson and will form a survey committee to identify downtown projects needing urgent action. Planned items include finishing the downtown beautification, fall and winter sales promotions, welcoming services for new residents, and a winter activity guide funded by merchants.

Home Destroyed By Blaze Near Camp and Unser Streets

A four room frame residence owned by R. C. Durden east of Camp and Unser streets burned early Wednesday. Firemen fought the blaze after 2 a.m. and kept it from spreading. Cause undetermined pending further investigation. occupants were away when neighbors reported the fire.
