First Aid Class To Be Held Here
Mr. Claude Barrett will teach a Red Cross Standard First Aid course starting October 24 at 7 30 pm in the Chamber of Commerce office. Registration closes October 19, textbooks cost sixty cents, and twenty hours of work are required for a certificate. The six week course ends around Thanksgiving with instruction on respiration bleeding splints snake bite and emergencies. Barrett is a certified Red Cross instructor and plans to teach in Mount Dora Lake County.

The Mount Dora High Golden Hurri reports senior Stuart Sadler named Carnival King. Five candidates Zera Dean Mildred Bartlett Shirley Coen Eleanore Minkley La Verne Townsend vie for Queen with votes by coin in box at theatre Mount Dora Pharmacy First National Bank and high school. Votes unlimited and result will be published in Mount Dora Topic. A marionette show by Miss Bryant adds to the carnival attracting tourists.

Kiwanis Club Hosts Mount Dora Telephone System Launch
Mount Dora Kiwanis luncheon celebrated the town’s new telephone system with officials from Florida Telephone Corporation and Southern Bell as guests. Attendees included E H Wilkerson G F Wooten of Eustis Karl Lehmann J M Lowry of Tavares Ormund Powers of Leesburg and Edith Keller of Mount Dora. Roland J Morse won the attendance prize. Red Kennedy returned after illness. A death notice for Mrs H G Hatfield was read. The program will feature an industrial film on glass gypsum and related products via United States Gypsum Company, lasting about thirty to forty minutes.
