Laundries Safe After Gale Damages in Narragansett

Mount Dora and Eustis friends learn Mr. and Mrs. E J Laundrie Jr of Saunderstown Rhode Island are safe after a 120 mile gale damaged their garage veranda and several cottages. Narragansett losses include 21 fatalities and heavy fishing-industry destruction.

The council tabled a tax on electric current and water and promptly passed a matching surcharge to cover town expenses due to Homestead Exemption losses. Red Cross Relief Fund Receives Community Support

Hurricane flood images from Mount Dora shown at the Topic office drew public attention. Carl Graves sent the pictures from Leominster, and contributions to the local Red Cross relief fund total 42.50 with Kiwanis pledging 10 and others promising more. Mrs. George Keller coordinates the Mount Dora Red Cross and will forward the funds promptly.
