City Woman and Couple Injured in Mount Dora Crash
A Mount Dora woman, 64, Mrs Helen Davidson, and two Cincinnati visitors, Mr Larry Smith, 23, and Mrs Kathryn Smith, 22, were injured when Davidson pulled in front of their car on US 441. Davidson was cited for failure to yield. Smith suffered minor injuries and his wife, four months pregnant, sustained facial and head lacerations. Both cars sustained about $800 damage.

Jones To Manage Eustis Savings Branch In City
Charlie Reed Jones a retired U S Navy commander was named manager of the Mount Dora office of the Eustis Federal Savings and Loan Association succeeding Herbert Eckblad who announced the appointment. Jones retired from the Navy in January after a 28 year career. He enlisted in Durham NC in 1935 and was commissioned in 1942 serving on submarines in World War II. Jones and his wife Janice move here due to her sister Martha Lewis in Eustis. They have three sons Charlie Jr Edward R and Theodore L.

Fire Department Activity Is Told At Rotary Meet
Mount Dora had twenty-one house fires with total loss estimated at 32500 during the past year. Kenneth Cox, a dispatcher engineer, spoke at the Rotary Club meeting as a Fire Prevention Week feature. The department also answered five automobile fires seven rescue runs four false alarms and five out of city calls. A film illustrated common causes such as overloaded circuits rubbish piles improper paint storage and careless use of matches and cigarettes.
