City Council approved preliminary plans for landscaping the U S 441 corridor through Mount Dora. Thomas Wallis presented designs including tree plantings and median beautification at key intersections Old 441 Sanford Road Donnelly Street and Eudora Road. The council also amended zoning to permit higher land use classifications without variances and awarded bids for a tractor front end loader and city hall resurfacing.

Free Tennis Lessons Begin October 14 at High School Courts
Russell W. Harned, noted tennis pro and member of the Professional Lawn Tennis Association of America, will teach free lessons starting Saturday October 14 at the high school courts. Sessions run Saturdays at 9 a.m. for under 12 and 10 30 a.m. for ages 12 18 through winter, funded by the Chamber of Commerce recreation program.

Obituary for Henry W. Link Sr. of Mount Dora
Henry W. Link Sr a longtime Mount Dora civic leader and businessman died Sunday October 1 1967 at Mount Dora. Born July 8 1908 in Fort Mill SC he served in the U S Marine Corps during World War II and worked for the Federal Government before founding Link Stationery and Printing in Mount Dora in 1952. He was active in the First Methodist Church Mount Dora Lions Club Chamber of Commerce Merchants Association and other civic groups. He is survived by his wife Annie H son Henry W Jr mother Mrs C S Link brothers and a sister. Services were held October 4 1967 at First Methodist Church with a Masonic graveside service at Pine Forest Cemetery Rehbaum Harden Funeral Home was in charge.

Scubapros Club to Provide Safety Divers for Power Regatta
The 40 Fathom Scubapros club will supply safety divers for the Power Regatta on October 15. Hal Watts and A. J. Muns, record holders for a 380 foot deep dive on September 3, will participate along with Robert Soukup of Florida Central Academy. Divers will guard the race course to assist drivers, recover dropped gear, or salvage boats if needed. The club is described as the only deep diving group in Florida.
