A submerged car in the shop ping center lake is seen rising from 20 feet of water after about two hours. Fire Department divers used grapple hooks from a boat to locate the vehicle near the wrecker boom.

Fire Department Plans Move to Eleventh Ave Site

The city advances a purchase of a building near Eleventh Ave and Grandview St for 8000 dollars on a five year loan at four percent to extend the Fire Department. Mayor Willmott says the project benefits the city while Wason notes remodeling can be done by department staff and volunteers. A municipal utility report shows five new water connections, three new residential electrical connections, and three new commercial electrical connections in September. Mount Dora residents used 39.93 million gallons of water and 1.507 million kilowatt hours of electricity, up from the prior year.

City Council Adopts 1963 64 Budget With 442 466 Fund

The City Council approved a fiscal 1963 64 budget starting Nov 1 with a General Fund of 442 466 and a 5600 contingency. Revenue from taxes permits and misc sources totals 235 900 with 206 566 from utility operations. Bond debt totals 1 415 000 while the tax millage drops from 10.7 to 10 mills.

Florida Gas announces its third rate reduction since 1958 impacting Mount Dora Eustis Tavares and Umatilla residential customers. Roy Asbury says eight month gas sales rose 41 percent vs two years ago and compares a 1958 bill of 23 68 to about 16 under the new rates. The district office in Eustis serves a four city Lake County area from a 1500 mile pipeline system.
