Fresh Water Fish Fight Backed by State Commission
I N Kennedy director of the Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission says the agency will support closing all Florida waters to commercial taking of freshwater fish other than catfish. The sale and transport of non catfish will be vigorously opposed as Florida faces depletion of its freshwater fish stocks. The commission backs Lake Okeechobee Commercial Fisheries Association in seeking settled questions to conserve state resources. Florida’s fish belong to the people and swift action is urged to prevent loss of a key asset. Georgia currently relies on Florida as its main supplier for bream and catfish.
