Sadie Conner Led Lake Jem Nursery From Bus to Boom
The article chronicles Sadie Conner’s rise from delivering 1700 trees to Walter Rose to building a Florida nursery empire at Lake Jem. She expanded operations, modernized facilities, secured a post office, built housing for workers, and continued managing the business after inheriting it from Owen Conner, later remarrying and rearing stepchildren. Now she still oversees 20 packing workers and occasionally drives a tractor in her 65th year.
