Last week Mount Dora saw a 1936 railway car join the town. The veteran carriage had toured the nation for years before settling in the city to retire alongside its former passengers.
Vaughan of the Seaboard Coastline Railway presented the 74 foot Pullman passenger car to Mayor Jesse Willmott and Model Railroad Club president Bobby Simpson. The club plans to relocate it off the tracks for a clubhouse and museum, weighing 112000 pounds with 76 seats.
Mount Dora officials traced a faint mineral oil leak at one well as the source of a peculiar odor and taste in the city water. Water was flushed and a well shut down while samples were sent to the Health Department for testing.
Most of Mount Dora will experience a brief power outage on Saturday October 3 from 2:00 to 2:30 a.m. The Christian Home and Bible School area and the stretch west of Park Place will remain powered. City crews conduct transformer tests during the outage to complete installation.
