City Plans Radio Station And Park At Mount Dora
In a 90 minute meeting Mount Dora City Council approved Lake Radio Inc license to operate an AM station at 1580 KC 5 000 watts daytime hours and aims to be on air next spring from Old Eustis Rd site despite residential zoning. The council designated Stedronsky Park on Ninth Ave Donnelly St the northeast corner for a future public library site and will seek appraisal while donors’ deed taxes fall to the 1973 bill.

Mount Dora City Council approved closing City Hall on Friday November 23 extending the Thanksgiving holiday for City Hall employees following a request from Mayor Jesse Willmott. The measure was approved at Tuesday night’s meeting.

Incumbent Mayor Jesse D. Willmott and attorney Tom R. Champion qualified for the Mount Dora mayoral race in the December 11 election. Five council seats include incumbents L Thomas Houser Mrs John Alden Murray and G R M Pearson plus Henry J Cibula and Brandon Ward. Tyrone Parker is not a candidate. Park Commission seat also has one candidate Mrs Guy J Radcliff. a ballot straw vote will consider abolishing the Commission.
