American Legion Gifts Flagpole and Flag to Mount Dora School
On Wednesday November 10 the American Legion of Mount Dora presented Mount Dora Public Schools with a metal flagpole and flag. The dedication on the school campus involved all grades at 3 p.m. with Invocation by Reverend N V Underwood and performances of America and Star Spangled Banner by students. Legion chaplain Harold Overhiser led the ceremony, flag raised with a bugle salute by Edward Kimball, and school board members E B Ferson and J M Smith accepted the gift.

Kiwanis hears Raiford prison chief outline farm scope
Lieut. F. Chapman, superintendent of the Florida State Prison Farm at Raiford, spoke to Kiwanis on the farm's 18 000 acres 1700 cattle and 165 dairy cows 17 shops and 28 departments with half a million annual operating costs and two million invested. He described inmate flows 20 to 70 weekly arrivals 20 to 35 discharges and noted 154 000 U S prisoners plus about a half million in other facilities. He recalled harsh intake cleaning methods and stressed normal living with organized sports at Raiford.
