Holler Welcomed as New Florida Resident in Lake County

William E. Holler, longtime GM Chevrolet sales manager, greeted Lake County Florida with a vision of growth and prosperity. Governor Caldwell praised his choice of Mount Dora Breezy Point and Lake County as a model for state development, highlighting road building and public services improvements. Karl Lehmann, chamber secretary, lauded Holler’s impact and noted local executives investing in the area. The annual Lake County Chamber meeting drew 225 attendees.

Armistice Day Observed in Mount Dora Parade and Service

Woman's Club Holds Regular Meeting With New Members

The Woman's Club met November 6 at the Community Building. Officers' reports were read and accepted, ten new members joined, and Mr. and Mrs. Barnett of Tangerine spoke about their summer trip to France. Motion pictures showed war devastation as Mrs. Barnett displayed Breton lace and Pont Aven costume. Tea followed hosted by Mrs. Wm. Lott and Mrs. Elwood Carpenter.

Wayside Up-Town Store Opens In Mount Dora

The Wayside Packing House up-town office and sales room opened Tuesday for the winter season with Mr. and Mrs. Al Maben in charge. The Post Office building shop was redecorated and now features a full line of tropical novelties. The branch has previously served the public by welcoming strangers and making them feel at home in Mount Dora.

Yacht Club Opens 1946 47 Season with Supper and Events

The 1946 47 Yacht Club season starts with Thursday night suppers led by M F Turner as steward. Club improvements include a $700 refrigerator a steak grill and upgraded smoker and game room. Membership limited to 100 with a long application list. daily luncheons dinners and special events available to members and guests with reservations. Mrs Turner to oversee dining service. Turner brings decades in hotels ships and Navy galley experience including wartime Merchant Marine duty and Seabees service in the Pacific.

Allen Named Building Inspector for Mount Dora

M B Allen appointed by Town Council as Mount Dora building inspector to enforce the new Southeastern Building Code. He will review permit applications, issue permits if plans meet code, and provide information from 2 to 4 pm on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays at city hall.
