Tax proposal loses locally in Mount Dora area
A referendum on a state corporate income tax failed in Mount Dora and eastern Lake County. Mount Dora precincts showed roughly a 2 to 1 ballot against the tax, and the Sorrento Mount Plymouth area favored it by about 3 to 1. Turnout was under 50 percent with 448 in favor and 935 opposed in Mount Dora.

Park Board approves Gilbert Park storage building plan
The Mount Dora Park Board, at its Tuesday City Hall meeting, authorized a new storage building for Gilbert Park funded in the 1971 72 budget at 2500 dollars. The old building may become an open picnic area with its concrete floor. Discussions covered park use conflicts and potential charges for out of town groups while letters to clubs requesting self supplied paper goods were approved.
