Power boat race sanctioned for Lake Dora regatta
The inboard hydroplane regatta on Lake Dora Sunday afternoon, Nov. 18, is officially sanctioned by the American Power Boat Association. Co chair Roy Christopher notes ten boat classes with 100 to 150 mph minimum speeds and about 20 races for a total of $2,000 in cash prizes. Mount Dora Yacht Club sponsors the event for its 60th anniversary celebration this month.

Pearson named manager of new federal savings and loan office
G R M Bob Pearson, 48, appointed assistant vice president and manager of the Mount Dora office of Winter Park Federal Savings and Loan Association. A temporary prefab office is under construction at Eudora Road and SR 19A with a planned late November opening. Pearson, a former Navy commander, moved to Mount Dora in 1970, served on the city council in 1971, and is married to Ermyne Duckworth.

Outdoor art show set for November seventeenth in Mount Dora
Mount Dora Art League stages its Annual Outdoor Show and Sale at Childs Park near the Chamber of Commerce office on Third Ave and Alexander St from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday November 17. J W Brown reports a $25 Best of Show prize plus $10 First Prize in Oils Acrylics Water Colors and Other Media with additional ribbons. entry is $3 on site and space is first come first served. Bain Named Finalist in Florida Teacher of the Year
Mount Dora High School science teacher Walter L Bain is among six finalists for Florida Teacher of the Year 1974. The nominees from Brevard Collier Dade Lee and Palm Beach Counties are being interviewed this week by a five member Department of Education screening committee.
