Florida Legislators Clash Over Public Printing And World Federation
Florida lawmakers debated a measure to require full minutes publication in at least one county paper. The bill, backed by the Public Printing committee, faced defeat. Another proposal would fund school juice and milk for Florida children, costing about two million dollars, with critics noting missing clothing and toys. The state joined calls for a World Federation with a global legal framework, led by officials including Rollins College president Hamilton Holt and Secretary of State R. A. Gray, citing resolutions from several states. A war diary excerpt follows from Homesick Joe describing air raids, beach bombing, and a sheltered, sunlit day with ocean views and villages nearby.
