The Women’s Association met in the church parlor Friday afternoon with Miss Elmina Lodor presiding. Mrs. Belle Hamilton led devotional, and Lodor reviewed a book by Mbonu Ojjike. A pleasant social hour followed.

Vocational Guidance Tests At First Methodist Church

Tests to reveal personality strengths and weaknesses will be offered at the First Methodist Church Parish House Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 o clock. Mrs Beatrice Cahill of Boston University and Rollins College will direct the sessions with private interviews available. The program aims at local youth but is open to community young people, with a $5 fee per participant.

Lions Enjoyable Ladies Night At Club Meeting

The Lions held a pleasant Ladies Night last Friday but adjourned early for those attending the district 35N governor candidate talk. Lion A A DeLage donated a miniature Winter Garden Lion bronze to the club. George Rast, district governor 35N, attended briefly and offered remarks. Mount Dora and Eustis clubs planned an interclub gathering replacing this Friday’s regular meeting.

Ten grocers appeared before the Lake Sumter Price Control panel last Tuesday nine received suspended sentences one paid a 50 dollar settlement. Violations were for canned fruits and vegetables marked above the ceiling price from the April survey.

Prominent Ontario Doctor Campbell Dies in Florida

Dr. Duncan Alexander Campbell, physician and WWI veteran, died April 28 at Orange General Hospital Orlando after a short illness. A winter resident of Mount Dora, he practiced in Ontario and served three years overseas as surgeon. Survived by wife Dorothy Gatelius Campbell and daughter Anne, with sister Mrs. Frank A. Blatchford. Body forwarded to North Bay Ontario.

Walter A Cook veteran engineer dies in Vermont

Walter A Cook longtime Ludlow resident and consulting engineer for the Raymond Pulverizer Co. dies at his Ludlow home on April 12 after a long illness. Born September 26, 1865 in Ludlow, he spent 42 years with the Raymond Pulverizer division and traveled widely. He married Orrie Slack in 1888, celebrating a golden wedding in 1938, and had three children. His widow is Martha C. Perkins, and among survivors are Harold S. Cook Clyde E Cook Patricia A Cook and three grandchildren.
