Cattle Brucellosis Testing Start Planned in Lake County

Lake County will begin cattle brucellosis tests on April 1 as part of the national eradication program. The move follows a petition signed by owners representing over 51 percent of the county’s cattle and 75 percent of the cattle owners.

Repeal of Tangible Personal Property Tax Favored by Florida Official

Comptroller Fred O Bud Dickinson Jr. proposed to the Florida Legislature next month that the tangible personal property tax as it applies to homeowners be repealed. He cited an in depth study on lost state revenue and argued the 100 percent reassessment to 6.5 billion ad valorem rolls would offset any shortfall. State Fisheries Lab Dedicated in Eustis Florida

The Florida Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission opened a new fisheries research lab on Woodward Avenue in Eustis during a May ceremony at the community center. Officials including Gov. Claude Kirk aide Nathaniel Reed and Eustis mayor Len Williams spoke as W. H. Reedy presided and ribbon cutting occurred. The lab cost about 136,800 dollars with five acres donated by the city, and will support water chemistry research and Florida fish management efforts amid pollution concerns raised by C. E. Ohio woman killed in Mount Dora Lodge accident

Mrs. Bess A. Brockway of Akron, 81, died after a two car crash at the Mount Dora Motor Lodge entrance on New US 441 at 5 20 p m. Passenger injuries included Mrs Edith Newton and Mrs Dorothy Whitcombe. Driver Mrs Emma Oliver and resident Ronald Lange sustained bruises. Services were held at Rehbaum Harden Chapel with interment in Akron.

Lipizzaners From Vienna Headline Cocoa Showings

Famed Lipizzaner horses trained by Otto Herrmann of the Vienna Spanish Riding School will perform in Wickham Park Cocoa for Saturday and Sunday shows. The 12 horses, featured in Disney's The Miracle Of The White Stallion, are housed at Myakka City near Arcadia, the dressage capital. Sailors sail to Lake Dora for the 14th Annual Mount Dora Yacht Club Regatta hosted with the Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce. Florida State University Receives $328000 Aid Grant

Florida State University gains a Bureau of Higher Education grant of 328000 dollars to assist about 600 to 700 undergraduates during the 1967 68 year. ECGP awards include matching work programs beyond college work study with a maximum grant of 800 or half the projected cost for a three quarter student. Eligibility limits include parental support caps of 625 dollars and several other requirements.

Dealers warn that less than five months remain for World War II veterans to use guaranteed loan benefits for homes farms or business purchases. M T Dixon Florida Department of Veterans Affairs director notes July 25 1967 is the absolute cutoff for WWII veterans.
