The Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce reports nearly 200 new members in a brisk membership drive led by President Sam Shaw and Secretary Betty Siess. The list includes 1967 business members such as Allstate Insurance Associated Realty Services Alfred P Berry Blue Bird Kindergarten A G Edwards & Sons Eustis Dodge and many others.
The Honorable Leroy Collins former Florida governor will speak at Kiwanis Ladies Night March 31 at Lakeside Inn Lake Dora. Tickets are on sale via Kiwanis chair Dick Edgerton who also owns the Lakeside Inn. Lt Governor Lou Bethea speaks at the Kiwanis luncheon today at 12 15 p m in the Community Building. Inter-Club meeting is next Wednesday March 23 at Tavares.
The Mount Dora Merchants Association will sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday March 25 at Donnelly Park. Two age divisions: 11 a.m. for preschoolers and 1 p.m. for children up to third grade. About 100 eggs carry business names. found eggs may earn a gift from the indicated store. If rain, events move to Monday March 27 at the same times and location.
The family comedy Barefoot In The Park repeats at IceHouse Theatre Friday March 17 at 8 p.m. Admission is 1.00 with tickets available at Porter’s Camera Shop Eustis Photo Music Center Mount Dora or IceHouse Theatre. The Tin-Can Tourist group, now meeting in Eustis, bought the repeat.
Robert E. Pierce announces Randolph C. Tucker Jr will resign as Assistant Public Defender effective March 31, 1967 due to expanded private practice. Landis V. Curry Jr of Ocala is named Assistant Public Defender effective April 1, 1967. married to Valeria Jean Hiers, Curry earned a 1965 UF law degree and is associated with W. V. Chappell Jr., Legal Center, Ocala.
Governor Claude Kirk and cabinet attend dedication of the Game Commission research laboratory in Eustis. County officials invited. Luncheon tickets priced at $2. Event begins at 2 p.m. on March 23 at Community Bustis.
A victory banquet for Mount Dora High School and Christian Home and Bible School teams was held at Garden Gate Restaurant on Tuesday evening. Guest speaker Frank Quilici of the Minnesota Twins attended. The event, sponsored by Bank of Mount Dora and the Golden Triangle Merchants Assn., honored regional wins that led to state tournament finals in Gainesville last weekend.

Mount Dora Lions Club schedules its tenth annual White Elephant Auction and Old Fashioned Barbecue at Gilbert Park on Saturday April 1. Auction starts at 1 p.m.. barbecue serves from 4 p.m. to evening. Proceeds fund Light Conservation and Welfare work plus eye sight, Girl Scout support, Blood Bank, and community programs.
City leaders and residents push a cleanup drive in East Town removing two condemned buildings and over ten tons of rubbish. Patrolman Nathaniel Walker aids the effort as churches and Milner Rosenwald Academy participate in beautification plans.
Mount Dora hosts the All Class Sailing Regatta on April 8 9 at Lake Dora with registrations at the Yacht Club and Gilbert Park. Commodore Joseph Russo says invitations went to skippers commodores and sailing fans and classes include Shark Catamaran Snipe Windmill and Pram among others.
Mike Simpson aged 13 son of Mr and Mrs B A Simpson of Mount Dora won the youth Monza Jr automobile at the Central Florida Fair in Orlando last Saturday after entering the Chevy Show drawing sponsored by General Motors Chevrolet Division. The family plans to take delivery soon.
The 46th annual Lake County Fair and the 19th annual Flower Show open at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Eustis. Mount Dora, Tavares, and Leesburg Days highlight the schedule with bands, garden club displays, and livestock exhibitions drawing residents and Tin Can Tourists.

Gov Claude R Kirk plans three more Education conferences including a high school students event on March 29 at the Robert Meyer Hotel Orlando and further dates for teachers and parents to be announced.
