The Mount Dora Flower Show invites entries from all residents and non members. Exhibits are due at the Community Building on Tuesday March 22 with judging from noon to 2 pm. Dr. H Harold Hume of Gainesville will judge. doors open at 2 pm with a ten cent admission.
Mount Dora hosted doubles and singles tennis with Clermont foes. Matches ended Mount Dora 61 6-3 in one, Clermont 6-2 6-0 in another, and Mount Dora 6-3 6-0 in several more, with return matches planned for Clermont on Saturday March 12. Clayton Perreault seeks to form a Mount Dora tennis club to play county events.
John Everington presents In the Gardens of Old England at the Community Building Friday March 18 at 8 pm. The illustrated lecture is sponsored by the Community Church choir with free admission and a silver offering.
The Mount Dora Trio led by David Spilliard and Herschel and Elmer Haskins won Amateur Night in Mount Dora Monday. They were among twelve amateur acts sponsored by the local basketball team and have entertained locally for a year.
Miss Eleanor Jane Wells of Mount Dora is among 67 new students registered for the second term at Florida State College for Women. Wells is enrolled as a junior in the home economics school as 1,845 total enrollment progresses.

Comet failed to finish after an early tack while Poise led to the second buoy and performed a careful handicap calculation. Mount Dora Yacht Club invites regional boats to weekly Sunday races starting at 2:30 p.m. with no events on the fourth Sunday.

The Epworth League District meeting drew a large crowd at the Community Building with about sixty five present. Orange City took the attendance banner as officers were elected: Alfred Boatman President. Dorothy Knott First Vice President. Lola Jean Reed Second Vice President. Esther Boatman Third Vice President. Esther Stevens Fourth Vice President. Pomona Davidson Secretary. Flossie Williams Seneure. Supper was served cafeteria style and music by Kenneth Mayer accompanied the program. Next district meeting was noted.
The Town Assessor reminds applicants they must file yearly by April 1 with the Town Clerk or Chamber of Commerce. Blank forms are available at those offices and must be submitted each year as required by law.
The Florida Room at Mount Dora Public Library will house Florida wildlife displays led by Mrs. Elizabeth Evans with help from Mr. Fish and Mrs. Sprague. The project includes mounted birds from Mount Kisco to benefit local student exhibits, plus plans for sponge and Seminole artifact collections and Florida book shelves.
The P A met Tuesday after min haper Fyne of the Community Building for the regular meeting. Miss Helen Meadows introduced speaker Mrs Lucie K Miller whose subject Homemaking focused on foods and nutrition and the importance of proper meals.

The Mount Dora Hi Y Club invites Boy Scouts to meet tonight at the Community Building with an address by Mr Karl Lehmann on choosing a life work The event replaces last year’s Father and Son Dinner and includes parent invitations and refreshments.
The Children's Home Society of Florida warns the public about fake solicitors posing as fundraisers and magazine subscription agents in Lakeland and Bar tow. A worker named Weimar reported a scammer. police have not yet apprehended the man. Similar ruses have circulated statewide, with other agencies said to use the Society’s name to solicit funds.
The Florida Audubon Society held its thirty-eighth annual meeting in Winter Park at Annie Russell Theatre. Ernest F. Coe outlined Everglades National Park's wildlife, while officers were elected including C. Russell Mason as president and Miss Clara Bates as secretary. Mount Dora attendees, among them Mrs. Thomas Lasher and Miss Easter Armstrong, joined luncheons at the Whistling Kettle.
V G Shipley buys the Massey property at Woodlawn avenue and Tremain street and plans to move in early next week once he secures the abstract. He once ran a meat market in Mount Dora before moving back to Indiana, then returned to Florida three years ago to build a first class business.

Dr John Temple Graves II, son of the famed John Temple Graves, will lecture on The South As a Modern Factor at the Mount Dora Tourist Club Tuesday evening. The PTA executive committee appoints Mrs. Q W Sadler to lead a six week round table discussion on child behavior starting March 23 at 2 30 pm at the school. Sessions run one hour weekly with topics drawn from parent-submitted problems and Girl Scouts will entertain the children.
Buck Hancock of Madison campaigns in Group One for the Florida Railroad Commission. A native Floridian reared in Bay county Panama City Hancock qualified February 5 and is on his third statewide campaign lap. He promises to strive to make the commission a real service body for the people.
Mr and Mrs Thomas Tiemann of Petersburg Illinois have bought the Eckholdt Estate cottage at 834 Alexander Street for their winter home. They will depart for Illinois this week but plan to return in early fall to occupy and improve the property.
The Pythian Sisters announce a food sale on Saturday March 12 opening at 9 a.m. at 430 Donnelly Avenue in the store room between Hardy barber shop and Solvick's store. Pies cakes salads and other home baked foods will be sold at real prices.
