Opera Star Helen Jepson Guests at Sylvan Shores
Thirty years ago operatic star Helen Jepson visited Mrs. M. B. Claflin at Sylvan Shores. A cocktail party hosted by Alfred Rehbaum honored her, then she attended a Yacht Club supper before appearing in a concert in Ocala. The Reids from Mount Dora were guests of the Simpsons this week. City Council asked the legislature for a freeholder vote on Sylvan Shores incorporation, while denying expansion to Riley's Park and Remley Heights. Mount Dora school plans echoed by a state survey for eight more classrooms and a high school. Iva Jean Parker and James Pinkney Turner announce a June Mount Dora wedding.
