Mount Dora Police solved a February theft at John Whittaker’s home on Jackson Avenue with the arrest of James Horne, 31, charged with larceny and held on $1,000 bail after recovery of a television and tape deck. A second February burglary at Sam Wiggins’s Highland Street home resulted in a February 27 arrest of a Black male juvenile, who was referred to the Division of Youth Services in Tavares. stolen items were recovered.

Retired teachers set spring luncheon meeting
The Lake County Chapter of National Retired Teachers Association will hold its Spring Luncheon Meeting at the Tavares Civic Center on Wednesday March 17. 4-H Youth Eddie Lee Wins Central Florida Steer Show
Eddie Lee, an 18 year old 4-H member from Eustis, captured the 4-H and FFA Youth Steer Show at the Central Florida Fair with a 1009 pound Brangus crossbred steer. His steer sold for $2.10 per pound, yielding $2118.90 at auction in his final year in 4-H.
