Lake County figures Boyd and Reedy top the list as new Chamber members after a three hour recruitment drive in Mount Dora. The event featured a gold plated phone prize donated by Florida Telephone Company and aired on WVGT Radio with 60 new members added in the 9 to 10 a.m. period.
Beginning March 1 a Lake County Tax Assessor representative will visit towns to assist filing homestead exemption widow and disability exemptions and tangible and intangible personal property tax returns for 1967. Nine thousand nine hundred ninety two applications received by Feb 21 with over fourteen thousand expected. forms must be filed before April first to avoid penalties.

A Social Security representative will be at Mount Dora City Hall on March 8 from 9 a.m. to 12 30 p.m. Bring your Social Security card proof of age proof of earnings last year and a record of earnings to obtain faster service and file for benefits if needed.

Florida officials warn residents that Peticare Insurance Co of Oklahoma City is not authorized to do business in Florida. Broward Williams states the company sells accident health and life policies by mail without a local agent and pays no Florida taxes. Authorities will halt mail selling of this insurance in Florida.
Mount Dora Chamber of Commerce volunteers will staff the Central Florida Fair exhibit in Orlando. The display in the General Exhibit Building features a mural backdrop and flowers. The schedule lists shifts for February 27 through March 10 with multiple pairs of workers per slot.
The Lake County Fair at Eustis Fairgrounds runs March 13 through 18 with gates open at 10 a.m. daily. Daily city honors, Native Day Tuesday, Tourist Day Tuesday, Children's Day Friday, and a band concert lineup plus Bluegrass shows on the Midway are sched uled. An out of state badge program and courtyard acts are planned.
On March 2 and 3 the X Ray Mobile Unit of the Central Florida TB and Respiratory Disease Association will tour for food handlers and other workers needing annual X rays. Mount Dora schedule Friday March 3 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Unofficial results show Senate incumbent J A Tar Boyd of Leesburg leading in the 15th District and House incumbent W H Bill Reedy of Eustis winning District 32 in Lake County. Final counts await Secretary of State tabulation as candidates advance toward the March 28 election.
Lake County School Board approved a 7.5 percent pay hike for teachers covering the last three months of the current school year and the 1967 68 base pay rise from 4650 to 5000. The total cost is about 95 000 for three months and 322 000 for the base increase overall.
Mount Dora Golf Club President Buck Sadler announces a Bar-B-Q dinner this Saturday March 4 at 7 p.m. Sign-up deadline is Friday. Club championship awards follow the meal. The top three in each flight win prizes. The final round and start times are at the club. Hats off to Howard Simpson for a 69 and Robert Ashton for 76 with an eagle on 18. Vincent T Wasilewski announces the NAB Freedom of Information committee for 1966 67. Members include Joseph L Brechner president WFTV Orlando. The committee will meet in Washington March 7 to review the ABA Reardon Report and examine congressional and state moves on openness in criminal cases.
